"I TOOK A STROLL"

I DECIDED TO TAKE A STROLL LAST THURSDAY  DOWN TOWN AND ROUND ABOUT.

I THOUGHT IT WOULD DO ME GOOD  FOR A CHANGE AS IT'S NOT OFTEN I  GET OUT.

SO OFF I HEADED IT'S ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO WALK INTO TOWN FROM HOME.

NO HILLS IT'S ALL ON THE FLAT THANK GOODNESS SO THERES NO REASON TO MOAN.

I BOUGHT FIRST OF ALL A FEW THINGS I NEEDED IN THE STATIONERS SHOP.

THEN TO THE BUTCHERS FOR SUNDAY LUNCH A NICE PIECE OF TEMPTING BEEF CROP.

THEN I WALTZED AROUND A CHARITY SHOP AND THERE ON THE FLOOR WAS A PILE.

OF PICTURES IN A CARDBOARD BOX AND ONE OF THEM MADE ME SMILE.

A LOVELY THATCHED COTTAGE COMPLETE WITH SQUIRREL AND BIRDS CAN YOU ALL SEE.

OH! I HAVE TO BUY THAT I THOUGHT TO MYSELF IT REMINDS ME OF MARIE.

YES MARIE OUR LOVELY CHEF FROM "OAK COTTAGE"   A PENCIL SKETCH SO FINE.

SO I PAID THE FIVER AND YES!! I WAS THRILLED  THE PICTURE IT NOW WAS MINE.

VERY CHEAP  BUT THE  FRAME WAS TATTY AND VERY BADLY SCRATCHED.

SO I PAINTED IT MATT BLACK WHEN I GOT HOME AND I THINK IT MATCHES THE THATCH.

ALSO THIS TIME IV'E DONE MY KITCHEN IN BLACK AND WHITE THINGS AS WELL.

WHEN IT WAS PUT UP ON THE WALL I LOOKED AND I SAID YES IT LOOKS REALY SWELL.

DO YOU LIKE MY FIND MARIE OF "OAK COTTAGE"  I HOPE  YOU  DO.

WELL YOUR ALWAYS IN MY THOUGHTS EACH DAY  BUT NOW I CARN'T FORGET YOU.

AS EACH DAY I WAKE AND POP ON THE KETTLE I'LL LOOK UP AND SEE YOU THERE.

COOKING AND LOOKING OUT OF THE WINDOW AS I KNOW YOU STOP AND STARE.

AND WATCH MR SQUIRREL EACH MORNING PASSING HIS TIME OF DAY.

RUNNING AROUND IN THE GROUNDS OF "OAK COTTAGE" DOWN YOUR OLD KENT WAY.

WELL THEN I WENT BACK TO THE LOCAL MEMORIAL PARK OF OUR WAR VETERANS.

THE GARDENER I USED TO CHAT STILL WORKS THERE SO SUPRIZED TO SEE MOTHERHEN.

A LOVER OF FLOWERS WE USED TO CHAT EACH DAY AS I PASSED ON THROUGH.

SO I STOPPED AND CHATTED LIKE OLD TIMES AND FLOWERS HE GAVE ME A FEW.

IT'S LOVELY SAT THERE ON THE BENCHES IN SUMMER LAZING AND SMACKING MY LIPS.

YES YOU HAVE GUESSED HAVN'T YOU ALL EATING MY FISH AND CHIPS.  HE-HE.

I THEN WENT ALONG TO THE DOCTORS FOR MY PRESCRIPTION AGAIN WAS DUE.

I'M FEELING MUCH BETTER ON THE MEDICATION NOT FEELING HALF AS BLUE.

WHILST WAITING IN THE PHARMACY I SPOTTED A LONG TIME FRIEND.

WE HUGGED AND HAD A GOOD NATTER AND EXCHANGED NUMBERS SO WE COULD SEND.

ONE ANOTHER SOME MESSAGES SO THAT WAS A BONUS TO ME.

AS LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE MOVED ON FROM HERE OR PASSED OVER IV'E FOUND YOU SEE.

BY THIS TIME I FELT QUITE WEARY AND WITH BAGS AND THE PICTURE MY LOAD.

WAS FEELING PRETTY HEAVY BY NOW SO I HEADED BACK TO MY ABODE.

WASN'TI GLAD WHEN I REACHED THE DOOR THE BAGS I DROPPED AND I SANK.

ONTO MY NEW SETTEE FOLKS AS I FELT AS STIFF AS A PLANK. HE-HE .

IT MUST BE ALL THE BENDING AND LIFTING IV'E DONE AND ALL THOSE CHORES.

WHICH IV'E BEEN DOING FOR FOUR WEEKS NOW NEXT MINUTE I WOKE WITH SNORES.  HE-HE.

YES I MUST HAVE NODDED WHILST RESTING AS  THE SETTEE FEELS LIKE A BED.

MUCH COMFIER THAN THE DECK CHAIR WHEN I SIT DOWN AND REST MY HEAD.  HE-HE.

STILL I'D ENJOYED MY LITTLE STROLL AND A BARGAIN I FOUND WHICH WAS GOOD.

I THINK I SHALL HAVE TO DO THIS MORE OFTEN  I REALY FEEL I SHOULD.

I CUT THE GRASS THE OTHER DAY TOO  WHILE THE SUN IT SHONE.

THEN IN TWO MINUTES WE HAD LARGE HAILSTONES AND ALL THE SUNSHINE HAD GONE.

SO I SNAPPED A PICTURE TO SHOW YOU ALL POOR OLD HEDGHOG HE WAS WET THROUGH.

I HAD ONLY JUST PUT HIM OUT AS WELL I BET HE WAS FROZEN TOO HE-HE.

THEN FRIDAY CAME SOME ACHES AND PAINS  I FELT TERRIBLE OH! NO NOT FLU.

THEN AGAIN IT COULD BE THE BENDING AND LIFTING IV'E DONE THROUGH AND THROUGH.

THE LAST FEW WEEKS AS YOU KNOW IV'E BEEN BUSY AND NEVER HAD  A REST.

SO ALL DAY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MY NEW BED WAS PUT TO THE TEST.

I KEPT GETTING UP AND TRYING A FEW COMMENTS BUT STILL I HAD TO RETIRE.

BACK TO THE SETTEE OR BED MY FRIENDS AS I ACHED AND WAS OH SO TIRED.

AOL HAVE BEEN VERY MUCH A PAIN TOO AND WOULDN'T LET ME SIGN ON.

AS SOON AS I MANAGED TO GET ONLINE NO SOONER CONNECTION WAS GONE. GRRRRR !!

THE WIND OUTSIDE IS BITTER AND I CANNOT FEEL WARM AT ALL.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET SOME NICE WEATHER WE WILL SOON BE HEADING FOR FALL.

IF IT DON'T HURRY UP GOOD GRIEF ALMOST MAY AND NO SIGN OF ANY HEAT.

I AM WAITING TO EDGE ALL THE GRASS MY FRIENDS TO MAKE IT LOOK NICE AND NEAT.

I DON'T THINK I'LL DO MUCH  DIGGING THIS YEAR THOUGH AS I HAVE ENOUGH ON MY PLATE.

INSIDE THE HOME THIS TIME I'M AFRAID GETTING IT ALL  SHIP SHAPE.

I'M TIRED OUT FOLKS SO I'LL LEAVE YOU ONCE MORE TOMORROW I'M STAINING IN PINE.

IF THIS OLD MOTHERHEN FEELS BETTER THAT IS SO GOODNIGHT NOW FROM

                                   " MY SIMPLE RHYMES ".

How lovely to take your little stroll and find a sketch that reminds you of your friend... The sketch was probably made by someone who enjoyed sketching very much... What a pity to have it thrown out as if it was no longer valuable to whoever had it next, but then you took it and poured your love all over it until it shines with pride for you in your little part of the world... Makes me want to take up sketching again...

Your entry made me smile on this cold overcast day. Great find with the sketch and I like how you fixed it up. I'm sure it will look as wonderful in your kitchen as the hedgehog does in your garden. Keep strolling! --Cin

It sounds like you are settling in nicely Kath!  And that you have ever so much more space!  I am glad you are feeling better.  I was quite worried about you.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE your thatched cottage!  How wonderful.  My cottage is not quite thatched, but it is very similar to the one in the picture and you have read me like a book!  That Mr Squirrel is giving us quite a time.  The more we try to keep him out of the nuts he just finds new ways to get to them.  We even have bought him some peanuts in the shell just for himself and scatter them on the ground for him, but he just looks at them and then goes for the feeder anyways!  There is a big black crow that loves the peanuts though.  He's fun to watch and all!  I was so pleased yesterday when you managed to access my journal finally.  It truly made my day!  (((hugs))) I have so missed you my dear sweet friend!
love,
Marie
PS If it would not be too much trouble could I have your address?  Pretty please with sugar on it.

I can imagine you are tired out, now you've done so much work, it must be time to take a break and enjoy all that you've done.  It's lovely that you've a garden and I'm sure it will give you pleasure too.  Hope it warms up for you.  Our weekend was unbelieveably warm, but this week will be more normal temps.
Take good care !  'On Ya' - ma

Sounds like your walk through town was lovely & you even encountered an old friend!  Little hedgehog is adorable, it's good the hail didn't hurt or chip him.
Your place must be getting into fine shape by now since you've been working so hard.  I love your flowers, they are so pretty.

Glad you had a nice walk and met up with some old friends. AOL has been awful this last week we have had all sort of trouble and had to reload what a nightmare that is.  Hope you are feeling better now. Love Joan.

Kath, it so wonderful to be able to read your rhymes again. I've missed them! The stroll through town sounds like it was a delight even if it was tiring. The weather here seems to finally be warming up, I've got the windows open and I'm enjoying the fresh air. (Hugs) Indigo

Kath, I'm so glad you're not feeling as blue.  I just love the picture you got.  It looks gorgeous in that frame.  You sound like you had a touch of whatever I had also.  I was just not feeling well at all and achy everywhere.  You really got some hail, didn't you?  Your flowers are so pretty.  It doesn't look like old hedgehog or the flowers were damaged, thank goodness.  We are having a touch of spring now but it's still too early to plant because we could still have frost until well into May.  Take care of yourself!  Love  xx Chris
