"SINCE SATURDAY"

SINCE SATURDAY I HAVE BEEN SEWING MAKING DRAPES FOR WINDOWS EACH DAY.

WHEN YOU LINE THEM IT'S LIKE MAKING TWO PAIR AS THE LININGS ARE MADE THE SAME WAY.

GOOD GRIEF IT IS NEVER ENDING I HAVE MADE MANY PAIRS IN MY TIME.

YET EACH PAIR I MAKE SEEM TO TAKE FOREVER STILL THEY ARE COMING ALONG FINE.

I HAVE PINNED TACKED AND PRESSED TILL I'M DIZZY MY FINGERS ARE REALY SORE.

I USED TO LOVE MY SEWING AT ONE TIME BUT NOW IT'S BECOME A BORE .

I AM NOT REALY FOND AS IT MAKES  MY ARMS ACHE LIFTING  ALL OF THE WEIGHT.

WHEN THEY ARE VERY WIDE AND LONG WHEN THERE FINISHED I HOPE THEY  LOOK GREAT.

OR I'LL  BE AN OLD ANGRY MOTHERHEN AFTER ALL IT'S  REALY HARD WORK.

LIFTING AND TURNING THEM THIS WAY AND THAT NO TIME TO WASTE OR LURK.

THE GENTLEMAN CAME AND FITTED MY BLINDS SO NOW I HAVE TO BUY  TRACKS.

TO FIT ABOVE THE WINDOWS ALONG WITH SOME VALANCE RACKS.

WELL ROOSTER HE RANG AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD COME OVER AND DO.

THEM ALL FOR ME IF I WANTED HIM TO SO I SAID YES IT'S CHEAPER TOO.

IF HE DOES IT FOR ME BECAUSE THESE WORKMEN YOU HIRE THEY CHARGE THE EARTH.

AND FOR WHAT YOU PAY THEM TO DO SUCH A SMALL JOB THE AMOUNT IS JUST NOT IT'S WORTH.

ANYWAY I DON'T LIKE STRANGE MEN IN MY HOME WHEN I'M SAT ALL ALONE.

I DON'T FORGET  THAT GAS MAN DO YOU ? WHO HELPED HIMSELF TO MY SCONES . HE-HE.

THE BEST IS TO COME YET NOT KIDDING THERE ALL TO MACHINE NOW OH! MY.

IF I CARN'T THREAD THAT EYE OF THE NEEDLE MINE WON'T BE VERY DRY.

THERE'LL BE TEARS FLOWING DOWN LIKE RIVERS SECOND THOUGHTS I'LL GET OUT MY EYEGLASS.

CAN YOU SEE ME WITH THAT IN MY HAND SHERLOCK HOLMES LOOKALIKE LAUGHING KATH. HE-HE.

THE NEEDLE WILL BE UP DOWN UP DOWN GOING LIKE THE CLAPPERS IT WILL.

MY NEW NEIGHBOUR BETTY SAYING DO YOU THINK  THAT LASS NEXT DOOR WILL EVER BE STILL.   HE-HE.

I'LL TELL YOU A BIT MORE ABOUT MY NEIGHBOUR AS TIME GOES BY AND I KNOW.

MORE ABOUT HER AS WEV'E ONLY SPOKEN BRIEFLY WHEN SHE SAID HELLO!!

SHE WAS GOING OUT SHOPPING WITH HER SON  AND IN QUITE A HURRY YOU SEE.

SO I DON'T KNOW VERY MUCH ABOUT HER YET AND SHE DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT ME . HE-HE

THE DECKCHAIR IS GOING ON WEDNESDAY FRIENDS IV'E ORDERED A  MINK COLOURED SETTEE.

NOTHING EXPENSIVE LIKE MY LAST SUITE BUT IT WILL BRING COMFORT TO ME.

AT LAST I'LL BE ABLE TO PUT UP MY FEET AND HAVE MY AFTERNOON NAP.

WITHOUT HAVING TO GO UP TO BED TO LIE DOWN LIKE I DO WHEN IV'E HAD MY NIGHTCAP.

LIKE IV'E SAID IN THE PAST THOUGH IT'S NOT THE CONTENTS OF ANYBODY'S HOME.

THE WELCOME AT THE DOORS MORE IMPORTANT AND TO THIS I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PRONE.

SO NOW I AM SEARCHING MATERIAL TO MAKE CUSHIONS OF MY OWN CHOISE.

THEN BETTY NEXT DOOR I'LL INVITE FOR A CUPPA AND LET HER GET USED TO MY VOICE.  (Poor Girl) HE-HE.

NO SERIOUSLY FRIENDS I DON'T LIVE WITH NEIGHBOURS BUT I DO LIKE THEM STILL TO KNOW.

THEY ARE WELCOME TO POP IN AT ANYTIME IF NEED BE I TELL THEM SO.

YEH!! A SETTEE PHONE AND A COOKER NEW FRIDGE BED AND  CURTAINS NOW.

I'LL SOON BE ABLE TO RELAX AND SIT BACK THEN SIGH AND  WIPE MY BROW.

IV'E NEVER BEEN ONE FOR EVERYTHING GOING WHICH SOME PEOPLE WANT ALL THE TIME.

WHATEVER'S INVENTED THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT BUT I'LL GET ALONG JUST FINE.

WITHOUT ALL THE NEW FANGLED GADGETS A DISHWASHER ETC AS SUCH.

MAYBE ONE DAY IF I WIN THE LOTTERY AND GOLD THEN I'LL FEEL I HAVE TOUCHED. HE-HE

TILL THEN MOTHERHEN WILL PLOD ON AND DO WASHING OF DISHES MYSELF.

MY GLASSES STILL SPARKLE WHEN HAND WASHED AND DRIED AND ALL POPPED BACK ON THERE SHELF.

AS I HAVE EXPLAINED THE HOMES ONLY SMALL SO I'M LIMITED TO WHAT WILL FIT.

SO THREE SEATER SETTEE AND A NICE LARGE POUFFE I'M PROVIDING FOR COMPANY TO SIT.

WELL FREINDS TODAY I AM GOING  TO THE BANK AS IV'E SPENT UP AGAIN ON ALSORTS.

PAID THE BILLS THE BLIND MAN AND OTHER THINGS SO I'LL GO AND GET A REPORT.

ON MY BANK ACCOUNT AHHHHHHHHH !!! I DREAD IT BUT WHEN IT'S ALL GONE IT'S GONE.

THERES ALWAYS MORE I SUPPOSE WHEN IV'E SPENT UP WHERE THE OTHER CAME FROM.
 HE-HE.

TALK ABOUT WISHFULL THINKING HE-HE WELL ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I'LL LOOK.

I WONDER IF I WILL EVER BE DONE AND BE HAPPY THAT I TOOK MY HOOK.  HE-HE.

FROM THE SEASIDE TO GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME I'M SURE THE DAY WILL ARRIVE.

WHEN EVERYTHINGS FINISHED AND I'LL FINALLY  SAY I AM GLAD TO BE ALIVE. HE-HE.

SO UNTIL THE NEXT TIME MY FRIENDS BE HAPPY I'M NOW GOING SHOPPING FOR A WHILE.

SO SEE YA " ALL LATER ALIGATORS"  YES  "AFTER A WHILE CROCODILE".   HE-HE.

MY BATTERIES ARE CHARGING AND IF ALL GOES WELL I'LL POP IN A SNAP OR TWO.

WHEN THE DRAPES ARE UP AT THE WINDOWS IN PLACE YES TO SHOW TO ALL OF YOU.

THE WEATHER HERE IS PRETTY  COLD AND WINTERY SHOWERS NOT FINE.

SO BYE BYE FOR NOW WRAP UP AND STAY WARM FROM MOTHERHEN AND

My word havent you been busy ? but arent you going to feel good when its all done ? Once you have completed the curtains, you should have a little break ,dont run your self into the ground ,it is hard work lifting and lumping heavy material about ,and as for threading the needle ....Oh how frustrating Im the same ,sometimes takes ages ,I look forward to seeing your pictures ,and to speaking to you again. And to hearing about Betty , Take good care of your self ,you are precious you know ..love Jan xx

It will be nice to have your 'rooster' come by and help you out.  I don't have all the fancy attachments here at my house either, but then there are not many dishes when there is only one so a dishwasher would be a waste for sure.  I hope your new neighbor will be a good one as time goes on and that you are enjoying  your new space.  Take care and don't over do.  'On Ya' - ma

Who wants gadgets anyway?  If we can be happy with what we have - whatever that is - then we've got everything we need.  For me a lovely hubby, warm house, bills paid, the best food I can make, and a nice cosy bed are all I need to feel like a millionaire.
love, Angie, xx

I used to love making my own curtains but haven't used my sewing machine in years now. Next place I live, I really should set it up again. I'm sure your drapes will be fabulous and well-worth all the work. --Cin

what color are your new drapes? Nice to hear you are making headway. Hope your bank statement is ok and money there left to spend too. Nice to get it all finished before the weather gets warmer so you can enjoy that. Our weather is very dreary today. Rain and more rain with snow expected tomorrow morning, ug

Your home is definitely becoming your little nest.
I haven't used my 'new' sewing machine since I made some curtains etc for my granddaughter's dolls house.  I bought it on a whim once I gave up my old treadle sewing machine.  I loved that old machine and miss it even now.  I could go at a great rate of knots on it.   Lol!
Somehow this smaller one doesn't encourage me to use it.  It's like a toy by comparison.
I am looking forward to seeing your photos of your hard work.
Take care and have a lovely weekend.
Hugs

You sound so busy Kath, you make me feel quite worn out and I`m only reading about it all!  I know what you mean about your arms aching when hanging curtains, it never used to happen, I`m sure its nothing to do with age...lol!  Your house will be nice and cosy when you finished, a real home which is so important. I wish I could sew, I`d save so much money but I`d just as likely sew my own fingers together...ouch!

Love Sandra xxxx

Sorry I am late in commenting have been having all sorts of bother with email alerts so I had to hunt you down.  You are very busy just now and so kind of you to take time to update us on your house.  Hope you are finished for the good weather if we get any and you deck chair will be out in the garden for you to have a seat.  Love Joan.

That is an art doing the work making curtains that define your home.   My only experience with a sewing machine is from when I worked in the shoe/leather repair store.    It is an old tredle one for sewing through thick leather jackets and mending leather on shoe uppers.    Thank you for visiting me and your encouragement on my recovery from back surgery.    I have been sleeping a lot and have been doing my two mile a day walking nearly.     I already feel more strenght in my legs now that the nerve is not being pinched off.    The weather turned cold and rain/snow here so my woodburner is going.    I am careful and lift no more than 8 pounds and must bend at my hips and not at my waist.    I am not suppose to do any sweeping either.    mark
