(Thanx to Donna for this wonderful graphic)
LAST NIGHT AS I SAT LOOKING THROUGH MY WINDOW PANE.
THE SKY WAS DARK AND GLOOMY AND DOWN CAME POURING RAIN.
I FELT A SCENSE OF CALM SOMEHOW AND THOUGHTS CAME TO MY MIND.
OF A MY TINIEST GARDEN I ONCE UPON A TIME.
REMEMBERED SITTING IN MY PORCH WHEN THE SKY WAS BLUE.
AND ALL THE BEDDING PLANTS I'D PUT IN THEY WERE ALL BRAND NEW.
I REMEBERED THINKING COME ON NOW BIG BRIGHT MR SUN.
LETS SEE YOU DO YOUR WORK ON THESE BEFORE THE DAY IS DONE.
EACH DAY I'D HAVE A MINUTE OR TWO THERE AND WATCH ALL OF THEM SPROUT.
THEN I'D SAY COME ON YOU CLOUDS NOW LET SOME RAIN COME OUT.
AND GIVE MY PLANTS SOME WATER THEY REALY NEED SOME PLEASE.
AS SUN AND RAIN THEY LOVE THEM SO AND MAKE THEM GROW WITH EASE.
EACH DAY WOULD PASS SO QUICKLY I PONDERED OFTEN THERE.
WATCHING ALL THESE FLOWERS GROW AS I SAT AND STARED.
ONLY A SMALL SIDE GARDEN SO EASY TO MAINTAIN.
YET SOMEHOW IT LOOKED PERFECT ON ANY DAY IT RAINED.
I THINK IT BROUGHT THE COLOURS OUT REDS BLUES AND GOLDS AND GREENS.
MYSELF I THOUGHT A PICTURE THIS WAS JUST MY SCENE.
OH HOW I LOVED TO SIT THERE HOUR UPON HOUR.
OR POPPING OUT TO DEADHEAD AFTER A SHORT SHOWER.
THE NEW MOWN GRASS SMELT HEAVENLY THE DAMP AIR SMELT DIVINE.
WHEN I WANDERED ROUND THIS LITTLE GARDEN I HAD MADE ALL MINE.
IV'E SAID IT MANY TIMES BEFORE THE HARD WORK IS ALL WORTH.
"AS NEARER GODS HEART IN A GARDEN THAN ANYWHERE ESLE ON EARTH".
THE BACK WALL LOOKS QUITE BARE ON HERE BUT I HAD PLANTED THERE.
FOUR FAST GROWING CLEMATIS FOR SUMMER TO CLIMB UP THERE.
THE PYRACATHA CAN YOU SEE THE BERRIES ALL AGLOW.
THEY WERE NOT THERE VERY LONG AS THE BIRDS THEY LOVED THEM SO.
I LOVED TO WATCH THEM SWOOP DOWN LOOK ROUND THEN TAKE A FEW.
ONCE PLANTED THIS SHRUB TOOK OFF AND IT JUST GREW AND GREW .
CAN YOU SEE MY WATER BUTT AND THE VICTORIAN SHED STOOD THERE.
I DIDN'T WANT A NEW ONE AS THEY JUST DID NOT COMPARE.
THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE CHARACTURE THE OLD ONES HAVE FOR ME.
AND THE WATER BUTT A BARREL PAINTED WHITE BY ME.
THIS WAS OH SO USEFULL WHEN THE WEATHER HOT AND FINE.
FOR DIPPING IN MY WATERING CAN AND SPRINKLING ROUND AT TIMES.
I LINED THE WALLS INSIDE THE SHED AND NETS UP AT THE PANE.
POTS AND COMPOST GARDENING TOOLS IN THERE OUT OF THE RAIN.
THE POTS ALL LINED UP NEAR THE SEAT WERE PRIMULAS I'D SET.
ALL OF THEM LINED UP AND FROM ONE PLANT THIS LOT I'D GET.
BEHIND THE SEAT WERE MORE OF THEM ABOUT A DOZEN I THINK.
YELOW BLUES AND ORANGES AND SOME A BEAUTIFUL PINK.
THE FOLLOWING SEASON I WOULD PLANT THEM ALL OUT ONCE AGAIN.
AS THEY GREW A LITTLE LARGER WITH THE SUN AND A BIT OF RAIN.
MARIGOLD CAMPANULAS GERANIUMS AND MORE.
EVERYTHING I TRIED TO PLANT ALL AROUND MY DOOR.
THE GARDEN WAS ALL CONCRETE WHEN I FIRST CAME TO LIVE HERE.
SO I DUG IT UP IN BITS EACH DAY AND IT TOOK ME JUST A YEAR.
I LEFT THE REST FOR PATHWAYS TO WALK ROUND JUST TO BROWSE.
SO I COULD WEED AND HOE AND THIS LED BACK THEN TO THE HOUSE.
EACH TIME I SAW A NEW PLANT I WOULD DIG AGAIN SOME MORE.
AND PLANT ANOTHER SOON THEY WERE ALL AROUND MY DOOR.
I HOED AND RIDDLED ALL THE DIRT UNTIL IT WAS LIKE FLOUR.
EVERY DAY EACH MORNING IN THE COOLEST EARLY HOUR.
TO GIVE THE PLANTS A GOOD START THEY WILL NOT GROW IN CLAY.
SO I REMOVED IT DAILY INTO SACKS AND THREW IT ALL AWAY.
THIS HOUSE WAS IN SUCH A QUIET SPOT IT REALY SUITED ME.
SO I MADE A HOUSE SIGN FOR THE PORCH AND CALLED IT TRANQUILLITY.
WELL I'LL DREAM AGAIN THROUGH MY WINDOW NOW AND WATCHING THE RAIN AGAIN.
BUT LOOKING OUT AT THE OCEAN AND THINGS FOR ME ARE NOT THE SAME.
SO ANOTHER GARDEN I HAVE SHOWN HOPE YOURS IS GROWING FINE.
AND I'LL CLOSE NOW FOR TODAY MY FRIENDS ANOTHER OF
"MY SIMPLE RHYMES."
TIME FOR A NAP TO DREAM SOME MORE LOL!!
(THANX TO DEBBIE OF DeB'sDaBs FOR THIS LOVELY GRAPHIC.)

Thanks for the plug wink wink lol. The garden is lovely I love that no matter how big or how small a garden can still be stunning with a little thought and a lot of hard work. Mine is starting to colour up now and is looking pretty, roll on summer roses.

It seems this time of year things are just a whole lot greener and more colorful than any other time. Your pictures reminded me of some little gardens I saw at the home and garden show one year. I actually tried to grow one, but wasn't too successful. They planted these little gardens in containers and made some lovely designs with pathways and all. Littlle stick lawn furniture even. Some herbs were made to look like shubs...and peables lined the walks.Of course yours was on a much larger scale, but beautifully designed. Around our house we have flower beds with things that come up every year and usually we have something different blooming April through October. The rest of the year we freeze and everyting dies back, but it is a joy to see it grow again in the Spring. I never have much time to do much with it all, but it is very low maintenance. 'On Ya' - ma
Awesome, Kath! Your gardens were something to dream about. You really have a talent and a green thumb. LOL...I do wish I lived near you. I would have a garden or several gardens to take my breath away. My mother has lovely gardens but is getting up there in age. When I first moved here, we put a few gardens together but I killed half the stuff plus the winters are more severe where I live. My mum i only 40 miles away but I'm north in a snow belt. Still I know if she was younger, she would have found plants that would stay alive.
You have such a talent for flowers. Bless you...I just love looking at your pictures. Love xx Chris
