YET AGAIN IV'E BEEN A WALKING OUT FOR ANOTHER DAY.
I'M GETTING PLENTY OF EXERCISE BEFORE AUTUMNS ON IT'S WAY.
THE WEATHER WILL PROBABLY CHANGE THEN AND BE COLD AND WET AND DAMP.
SO I DON'T LIKE GETTING SOAKED WET THROUGH AND LOOKING LIKE A TRAMP. HE-HE.
I WAS BROWSING IN SHOP WINDOWS WHEN I CAME ON THIS ONE HERE.
SHOWING SOME GONE BY GADGETS AND ALL OLD FASHIONED GEAR.
OUR MOTHERS USED TO USE THEM ONCE MORE I HAD A LAUGH.
BUT THATS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY NOT FOR LAUGHING KATH

HE-HE JUST LOOK AT THE RINSO AND THE BIG ENAMEL BUCKET OF WHITE.
EEEEEE THIS BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES TO ME WHICH I KEEP HOLD OF TIGHT.
INSIDE MY HEART COS I LOVED THEM DAYS I KNOW I WAS ONLY A KID.
IT REMINDS ME OF THE GOOD TIMES AND WHAT MY MOTHER DID.

LOOK AT THE OLD POT ROLLING PIN INSIDE THE WATER JUG .
SHE'D FILL THE JUG UP IN THE OLD POT SINK WHICH HAD A GREAT BIG RUBBER PLUG. HE-HE
NO FANCY STAINLESS SINK UNITS LIKE WE ALL HAVE TODAY.
GADGETS OF THIS KIND SHE USED AND WORKED HARD EVERY DAY.
IF YOU LOOK TO THE LEFT OF THE PICTURE CAN YOU SEE THE BLOCKS OF SOAP.
SHE SCRUBBED THE CLOTHES WITH DAILY AND THE WASHING LINE A ROPE.
GOOD GRIEF BLOCKS OF CARBOLICK AND THE OLD WOOODN PEGS LYING THERE.
IF YOU PUSHED THEM DOWN TOO HARD THEY WOULD SPLIT AND FLY INTO THE AIR......
THATS IF YOU DIDN'T SOAK THEM BEFORE YOU USED WHEN NEW.
LOOK TO THE RIGHT AND YOU CAN JUST SPOT THE OLD POTATOE MASHER TOO

MORE DISPLAY IN THE WINDOW THE OLD WHITE ENAMEL SCALES.
AND A PAIR OF WOODEN SHOE STRETCHERS I BET THEY COULD TELL A FEW TALES.
HE-HE I LOVED THIS SELECTION ON THE NEXT PICTURE THAT YOU CAN SEE.
A BATCH OF THINGS FROM THE KITCHEN ONE OR TWO HAVE BEEN USED BY ME.
LOOK IN THE BASKET AT THE FISH SLICE AND THE OLD WHISK FOR MIXING EGGS.
THE BREAD BOARD ON THE FLOOR AND THE KNIFE AND THE TEA COSY
NEAR THE CHAIR LEG.
IN TAPESTRY MATERIAL THEY WERE MADE STITCHED LIKE AN OLD COTTAGE PIC.
AND THE COPPER PAN AT THE SIDE OF IT AND AN OLD STONE JAR BEHIND IT.

I HAD TO TAKE THIS ONE BELOW AS A BABY I WAS RAISED ON THIS.
CAN YOU SEE THE OLD TIN ON THE SHELF NATIONAL DRIED MILK I DIDN'T MISS.
THEN I SAW THE JELLY MOULD AND REMEBERED OUR PARTY TIMES.
WHEN MOTHER WOULD MAKE US BLAMANGE AND STUFF AND PASTRIES OF EVERY KIND.

NUTBROWN FANCY BISCUIT CUTTERS AND THE CHEESE BOARD ON THE SHELF ABOVE.
HELPING MOTHER BAKE BISCUITS IS SOMETHING I DID LOVE.
I ENJOYED MY WALK OUT TO OLD TOWN AND MORE MEMORIES IT BROUGH TO ME.
OF THE GOOD OLD TIMES OUR MOTHERS HAD USING ALL THESE THINGS YOU SEE.
THEY NEVER GRUMBLED AND MADE ANY FUSS IT WAS JUST THERE WAY OF LIFE.
HAPPY TO BE DOING ALL THERE CHORES AND BEING A REAL GOOD WIFE.

SO I HOPE I HAVE JOGGED YOUR MEMORIES TOO OF THE BYGONE AGE WE HAD.
WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMED SO HAPPY AND CAREFREE AND NOTHING WAS EVER TOO BAD.
THIS IS THE TOWN I WALKED TO AND I'M GOING AGAIN ONE DAY.

AS THERES LOTS MORE I WANT TO SHOW YOU FROM ROUND ABOUT THAT WAY.
I HAVE TO GO NOW I'M BAKING FOR MY COUSINS IN HOSPITAL YOU SEE.
AND I'M TAKING HIM SOME GOODIES ALONG TOMORROW RIGHT AFTER TEA.
I WON'T BE USING ANY OF THESE GADGETS BUT THERE STUCK IN MY MEMORY.
OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS WITH MY MOTHER AROUND AND ALL OF THE FAMILY.
HAVE A GOOD EVENING MY J/LAND FRIENDS AND I HOPE YOU ARE ALL FEELING FINE.

My goodness Kath, I never thought I`d see those items again. My mum had an old copper where she would boil up the `whites` every monday morning without fail, though I don`t remember Rinso, I think she used Daz. I too was raised on National Dried milk but it was banned because it was decided it wasn`t good for babies...huh, it didn`t do me or other bottle fed babies any harm!
Love Sandra xxxx
What a wonderful entry!
Such lovely memories of a time gone past.
Hugs,
Sugar
You really did jog my memory abit. It seems the heart of the home was always mom and the kitchen. I know from my experiences it was always the place to gather and share our news, good and bad. I still have some of those things in my kitchen, but modern conveniences can't be beat, we are so spoiled, aren't we?

that's so nice to taking goodies to the hospital. I love all the oldie stuff. Love all the pictures.
This reminds me of yesterday when my friends and I stopped at a shop to look at things from years in the past. It was sooo much fun. Paula
Oh, how I did enjoy this trip down memory lane with you Kath. Both the pictures and the prose! Once again you have done it!

Oh Kath I loved this Rhyme and the pictures of the old gadgets ~ it brought back lots of happy memories ~ with all the modern gadgets we have today it makes you realise how hard our Mum's had to work ~ Ally x
When you think how hrd they had to work, it makes you wonder why they didn't run screaming in the opposite direction when "Mr Right" arrived!
lovew, Agie, xx
I loved looking at all of the pictures! :o) They brought back memories for me as well. :o) Thank you for sharing them! :o)

I absolutely loved these pictures! My gosh that rolling pin looks like it weighs a ton - no wonder you see cartoons with people chasing someone with a rolling pin! I have to say, it sure looks like it was hard work in those days. I gripe now about household chores, imagine how I would have been then!! Great entry, I loved it!

Wow, Kath, that's very interesting and great rhyming! : ) Love, Shelly
I have used those NON-eletric egg beaters and love them. They work just as well as the electric and last forever. I still have that kind of potato masher, too. I lived in the woods without running water or electricity for a couple years so I've even used old pre-electric drills and such. Have to say that I am glad to be "living modern" now. I Looooooove my washer and dryer and dishwasher! Thanks for a really fun journal entry! --Cin
I thank the lord for electrical gadgets. LOL!!

Oh my goodness, Kath, I could spend all day in a shop like that. LOL at the Rinso and bars of soap. I remember the washboard and scrubbing with bars of soap. I'm laughing because I still use one of those old egg whisks and an old fashioned potato masher that my grandmother gave. My kids love mashed potatoes done the old way. My mother got rid of the scales, and a lot of the older things. I'm so into antique gadgets. I'd love to have them everywhere. Loved these pictures! Have a good weekend! Love xx Chris
